Coffee Talk

The candle shop is right across the street from a little coffee place called the Coffee Table so, needless to say, espresso is frequently coursing through my veins. This is a happy accident, not because I love coffee so much but that most people that know me know I'm a three-drink person. I don't mean "three beers and I'm on the floor," just that somehow I manage to collect three beverages around me on any given day. I don't do this on purpose, it just sort of happens...I will bring a water, then want a Snapple, go grab a coffee, and then realize I have a problem... If you think I'm kidding, stop by the shop sometime! It's uncontrolable!

When I first started working here full time, in June '06, my goal (as far as the coffee shop is concerned) was to get to the level that I had a "usual." As in, "I'll have my usual, please." So, I tried out a few drinks, starting out at just a coffee with room for cream, then moving to a bit more complex skim mocha with a shot of peppermint. I briefly flirted with sugar-free vanilla Italian soda, attempted the Americano, and then came the double macchiato debaucle.

I finally settled on the skim chai latte with a shot of espresso, either iced or hot (depending on the weather, of course). Well, once I had discovered this little gem, there was no going back! And if I am nothing else, I am loyal! I ordered my drink from David the barista for months- until one day, in late November, he said those words I have so wanted to hear: "Hey, Beth, The usual?"

Oh, sweet beans...it was magical. And delicious.
