Jug of oil, anyone?

Uh...that sounded dirtier than I mean it to.

It certainly takes a lot of oil to fragrance our super-scented candles, and even more when you're pouring them by the thousand! So, we started buying them by the jug!

Remembering Holiday Hop 2006!

There's no doubt about it- the holidays are coming! And that means the HOLIDAY HOP is right around the corner! To get you ready for it, here is a video of some of the fun we had last year!

What goes with a ton of wax?

A ton of jars, of course! Over 5000, to be exact! By the way, we're ALREADY half-way through them! It's a GREAT problem to have!

This is also a great opportunity to introduce Karl, my new Operations Manager. He keeps me sane at the shop and with Renetto (canopychair.com). After spending 5 years in a cubicle at Wells Fargo and Chase Bank, he is fulfilling an entrepreneurial dream by leaving corporate America and entering the exciting unknown! And it helps that he's one of my best friends!

So, if you stop by the shop, say hey to Karl and thank him for making my life easier!

What does a TON of Wax Look Like?

We continue our adventures in wax! We have been so busy lately that our normal shipments of wax, 4 or 6 boxes at a time, are just not cutting it anymore! So I decided to take it to the next level...the 2200 pound level!

These 34 boxes of our secret blend soy wax came in on a special freight truck, stacked on a palate (which, incidentally, broke under the weight of the wax), and was wheeled in by the beefiest guy I have seen in a long time.

This should last us for a few days, at least! :)

Monday Morning Lava Flow

Every day when I walk up to the door of the shop, a few things run through my slightly pessimistic mind regarding what I will find when I get inside: 1. that one of the light bulbs will set fire to a candle, and, thus, the building, 2. that someone will have broken into the shop, and 3. that the wax melter valve slipped open overnight and spilled wax all over the floor.

Well...

Even though the wax melter was close to empty, this mess took Nick and I about 2 hours to clean up, using scrapers and paper towels. Thank goodness we use soy wax, because it cleans up so well!

Carnage in the Candle Shop

What happens when a candle sets its sites on revenge...?
